Icecrums is now powered by MediaTemple

I’ve switched from 1&1 to MediaTemple for my hosting needs. I’ve used 1&1 since 2004 and had good experiences with them. Now it’s time to grow up and use a real hosting provider. I am running on their GridServer (gs) which is a huge upgrade from 1&1 shared hosting. The future of hosting lies in [...]

Compromise = Shitty Products

Compromise makes shitty products or product experiences. For some reason the Gatorade bottle is heavier than other products, thus making it more resistant. I’ve seen a lot of people using Gatorade or Propell bottles as water containers. That’s what I call free advertising. Helping your customers advertise is really important for branding.

Apple Thinks Ram is worth 6x More

Finally someone that is making sense of things. I can understand the high prices back when PPC reigned, but now that parts are commodity x86, it doesn’t seem all that fair. Macentine: When is a legally closed Mac site NOT a legally closed Mac site?

A big thank you to Macenstein for reporting this. As my feed reader kept updating the Think Secret website, with new articles, I just kept wondering: What the h@#l is going on there? Was it all a publicity stunt, or did he regret closing due to the bad press he got for digging in and/or [...]

Seth’s Blog: Exclusion

Seth Godin talks about exclusion to obtain exclusivity:
Limiting the supply of your service, or the quantity of your product, or being aggressive in who you sell to (and who you don’t) are all time-tested ways to build a killer brand. Humans like being insiders, and will work hard to create their own imaginary demarcations to [...]

All in one PCs

Who would be stupid enough to buy a PC that is completely under the keyboard instead of behind the screen like an iMac or Gateway One? (ohh shit….I have a laptop!)

Amazon launches a DB service

Building scalable web apps on a budget is increasingly easy with Amazon’s multiple Web Services. On demand cloud computing, storage and now SimpleDB. As described in their website:
Amazon SimpleDB is easy to use and provides the core functionality of a database - real-time lookup and simple querying of structured data - without the operational complexity. [...]
