Apple today released an update for their Macbooks and MacBook Pro laptops. The MBP now include MultiTouch trackpads and a very nice set of hardware upgrades like 200 GB standard HD.
My only concern is the MacBook Pro’s casing which hasn’t changed much since the G4 PowerBook. It sucks that I have owned three Apple laptops (1 PowerBook, 2 MacBook Pro) and still no casing change. Can’t Ives come up with something with a bit more pizzaz?
I know the hardware upgrades should be enough to entice a current owners to buy the new model, but design is important too. It’s a phycological trigger that let’s you know there is something new, apart from the numbers.
With a new design, right about now, your unconscious should be telling you: “Forget the specs, you know you have a good laptop….but wait, look at that sexy new design, you know you don’t need it, but what else do you plan to use your tax rebate for?”.
P.S. Why can’t they eliminate the hatch mechanism to a non mechanical one, like the MacBook’s magnetic lid?

Mhh I gave thought to this too, but at the en Jobs wouldnt just lay out new MB’s without making a big deal out of it… Anyways, I’m with you, they do need new casing
