Microsft makes Scoble Cry?

I am not sure what kind of product/research Microsoft could do to make me cry:
Scoble wrote on his blog:
While watching the demo I realized the way I look at the world was about to change. While listening to Wong I noticed a tear running down my face. It’s been a long while since Microsoft did [...]

Google Hijacks 404 Pages

After the whole Microsoft-Yahoo debacle I realized(as most people) how powerful Google really is and their insistency that they are still the small guys. A couple of years ago, maybe. Today that is not the case.
The latest shitstorm to hit Mountain View is regarding the Google Toolbar, which replaces 404 pages less than 512k [...]

Valleywag: Yang’s secret plan for a Yahoo comeback

Owen Thomas on Yang’s original turn around plan:
Four months ago, Yang reassigned hundreds of employees to skunkworks projects, with the goal to make Yahoo “relevant.” They’re now working on a few specific projects:
-Rethinking the Yahoo homepage
-Consolidating Yahoo’s plethora of social networks
-Opening up Yahoo to third parties with a consistent platform similar to Facebook’s
-Revamping Yahoo’s network [...]

Microsoft out shopping!

You cannot stop Microsoft from shopping! Last week it was all about Yahoo! and UStream.tv and now it’s about Danger, the maker of the Sidekick. It must suck to work at Microsoft, since these purchases usually say to developers: “You couldn’t do it better, so we are purchasing someone who will”.

Yahoo to Microsoft: “NO!”

According to Michael Arrington Yahoo’s board is getting ready to reject Microsoft’s buyout bid (or maybe just asking for more money….$40 a share?).
I am a Google fan, but I really want to see Yahoo step it up a notch. Hopefully Yang will reject and engage! Yahoo could do so much better, just like Apple [...]

Comments on the Microsoft-Yahoo bid

With hours left to find out Yahoo’s decision on the matter, pundits are giving their last minute comments on the bid. Two interesting ones come from John Gruber and Erick Schonfeld. John talks mostly on how not to screw Yahoo up after the merger amd compares them with Apple circa 1996, while Erick focuses on [...]

Funny: Gruber on Yang’s memo to Yahoo troops

Very funny “translation” of Jerry Yang’s memo to Yahoo employees in reference to the M$-Y! bid and Yahoo’s Microsoft’s future.

Google Comments on the M$ bid for Yahoo!

Karen, from the official Google blog on the implications of the Microsoft-Yahoo! purchase:
Could the acquisition of Yahoo! allow Microsoft — despite its legacy of serious legal and regulatory offenses — to extend unfair practices from browsers and operating systems to the Internet? In addition, Microsoft plus Yahoo! equals an overwhelming share of instant messaging and [...]

Microsoft $44.6B’s hostile takeover bid for Yahoo

This comes as no surprise since it’s been a long time coming. It’s sad to see the 250 million user base search engine….no wait portal….or is it mash up….sorry….ad network(this identity confusion is what got them in trouble in the first place) be it’s even clearer path to disappearing.

How Microsoft marketing “Macs” a product

Microsoft’s tacky taste dose not go with Mac users. They go as far as repackaging in order to seem different (better) in the eyes of pickier Mac users. This is the exact opposite of the famous Microsoft iPod:
